Throughout history, Visual Art Journaling has been used by artists and masters as a tool for capturing ideas and inspiration. Visual Art Journaling is a great place to record your travels, memorable moments, to affirm your goals and dreams or just PLAY! If you keep a regular writing journal, but are looking to add a visual quality and depth, Visual Art Journaling is the perfect addition to your journaling practice. It’s also a place where you are allowed to get messy, experiment and create without prior artistic experience. It’s the perfect way to take your art making on your travels or to a coffee shop.
Visual Journaling can also be a transformative tool to utilize during life’s transitions, when you want to gain clarity on a major decision, explore your creativity or just need to process your thoughts in a visual way.
In this all day workshop you not only learn the basics, you will also learn a variety of fun and easy techniques to fill your Visual Journal with lots of creativity.
All materials will be provided. (A $25 Materials Fee is required at the beginning of class)
*If you are a repeating student who has already attended a prior visual art journaling classes, bring your supply kit from the class you attended and you won’t need to pay another $25 materials fee.
In this workshop you will learn the following the Visual Journaling techniques:
• Collage (Tearing vs. Cutting)
• Creative backgrounds
• Layering with Gesso
• Use of doodling & scribbling
• Easy Lettering & Text
• Stamping with Patterns
• Fun techniques with pages of text
• Simple image transfer…and more!
Materials Included: 12 color paint set, 7 x 10 in. mixed media journal, collage materials, black writing pen, colored pencils, matte medium and an assorted paper starter packet. Additional minimal supplies will be needed and/or suggested.
All levels of art experience are welcome. Adult Ages 18+
