What Device To Use
It is recommended you attend the class either using a desktop/laptop computer or a tablet. Using a cellphone will make it difficult to view details on the screen. Especially when I’m demonstrating. Although many students have managed to use their cell phones. It is a personal preference.
Getting Into the Classroom
Prior to the class starting, you will receive an email from me with the Zoom link along with a password to get in. You will use this same link for each class session.
When you click on the link, you will automatically enter a waiting room. When I am notified you have arrived, I will let you into the room.
Make sure to use your real name (or something close to it) so that we can recognize you from the roster.
For security reasons, we will not allow anyone into the classroom we don’t recognize from the roster. Avoid using screen names such as “catlover123” or “iPad”.
If you have a different Zoom sign-in name, please make sure to let me know prior to the class beginning.

Different Options to Attend
You can attend a live Zoom class as any of the following options
Fully Engaged: Both video & audio ON, which means I can both see and hear you. Your face appears on the screen along with the other students.
Audio Only: Your video is off, but your audio is on. You don’t appear on the screen and I can’t see you, but I can hear you.
Semi-Stealth Mode: Both audio & video off. I can’t see nor hear you, but we have the ability to communicate through the Zoom chat. I can still see your name listed on the participants list. You also have the option to turn on your video & audio at any time.
Missing A Class Session or running late
I like to make sure everyone is in the classroom before I begin. Out of courtesy to your fellow class mates, please let me know a head of time if you are unable to make the class, so that we are not waiting for your arrival to begin.
Also let me know if you think you will be late for class.
Class Recordings
Each class session will be recorded so you will be able to watch the recording should you miss a class. Class recordings are also helpful if you missed anything during the class. The recordings will be available for viewing during the duration of the class and for a limited time after the last class session.
A link to the class recording will be emailed out to everyone after the recording has been uploaded to my teachable site, which usually takes a few hours after the class has ended.
Sorry, due to the size of the video files, copyrighted content and to protect the privacy of students/attendees, I am unable to keep the recordings available indefinitely and make the recordings downloadable.
Showing Me Your Work in Process
Since I will not be able to see your work area, if you would like to share your work in process, you can take a picture with your cell phone or mobile device and then text it to me. I will provide a number you can use prior to class starting.
You can also email me images of your work during & after class sessions. Emailing images is especially helpful if you don’t live in the United States.
Be Aware of Background Noise
Although Zooming is a fun online experience, it can also magnify background noise on your end. Try to be aware of any noise that you might have in the background like a barking dog, television or music, cell phone, etc. If you have a lot of background noise, make sure to mute yourself. I may also mute you if I think a lot of noise is coming from your end.
If attending the class with a cell phone or tablet, we tend to brush up against the mic on our devices while adjusting placement. Make sure to mute yourself while you’re doing this.
Asking Me Questions
Once the class begins, I sometimes mute everyone to avoid background noise. So if you have a question, always double check that you are unmuted.
Once you get the hang of it, experiencing an art class live on Zoom can be fun.
Looking forward to seeing you in class!
Non-Zoomer Option
Do you feel overwhelmed by the thought of using Zoom? Don’t have a computer with video & audio? Live in a completely different time zone? Or you just would prefer not to attend an online class live?
No worries. I realize that the whole tech stuff can be a huge learning curve for many and can be overwhelming. It’s more important to me that this class is available to everyone on different levels, so you have a Non-Zoomer Option to take this class.
Email Recordings: You don’t need to attend any of the Zoom classes LIVE, but instead you have the option to take the class by watching the recordings that will be emailed to you after each class has ended. You will receive all the same PDFs of lessons and instructions. You will also be able to email me with any questions about the project and techniques. Recordings will be available for viewing online for the duration of the class, plus for a limited time after the last class has ended.
“ I participated in Lisa’s Wabi Sabi class as a “Non-Zoomer” and for me it couldn’t have been more successful. I work from home in the company of two noisy dogs. Not a good prescription for a Zoom class. I found that participating as a Non-Zoomer, more than met my needs. I was able to enjoy each of the classes on my own time and at my own pace.
