Materials You Will Need for This Course
*Keep in mind our books will be roughly 4 1/2 x 5 in. or 5 x 5 in. when closed. Your signatures will be roughly 9 x 5 in.
- 9 x 12 inch 90 lb. Mixed Media OR Watercolor Paper (Note: 140 lb. will be too thick for your signatures)
- White Gesso
- Matte medium, Decoupage OR Mod Podge
- Aleene’s Quick Drying Tacky glue
- Watercolor Paint (pan set or tube) in Natural colors (ie. yellow ochre, raw umber, black, unbleached titanium white or buff, burnt sienna, etc.
- Collage material/papers in natural colors (ie. mulberry papers, gelli prints, wash paper, etc.)
- Acrylic paints (Neutral colors: black, raw umber, unbleached titanium white, yellow ocher/oxide OR equivalent)
- Awl
- Bone folder or burnisher
- Putty spreader or squeegee for collaging paper flat
- Embroidery floss, craft cord OR Shashiko thread (neutral colors + black)
- Embroidery needle
- Scissors OR Xacto Knife & cutting mat
- Muslin (roughly 9 x 12 inches)
- Fabric scraps that look wabi sabi (linen, eco dyed, cheesecloth, neutral tones, aged, stained, etc.)
- Mark making tools (ie. palette knife, old paint brush, fan brush, string, sea sponge, etc.)
- Paint brushes (variety of sizes to be used for watercolor & gesso)
- Brush to apply matte medium
- Found objects (ie. flat pebbles, asian coins, feathers, stones, small sticks, skeleton leaves, etc.)
- Straight edge or ruler
- White plastic plates or butcher tray for your paints
- Paper Towels
- Cup & bucket for water
- Hairdryer
- Small hand or craft iron (optional)
- 2-3 Large paper clips
- Makeup sponge or equivalent
