Attention Wabi Sabi Art Journalists! Throughout my years working in mixed media, I have always witnessed the close connection between the creative process and Wabi Sabi principles. Principles such as nothing is permanent and things are always evolving and changing. Or finding beauty within the subtle details of what is imperfect and ugly. When we apply these ideas to art making, specifically mixed media, we practice the art of letting go, accepting what is unfolding on the page (or canvas) and ultimately allow ourselves to flow with the organic and natural rhythms of life.

This is how it will work
In this 6-month class series, we’ll get together live once a month in my virtual Zoom classroom to work in our Wabi Sabi Art Journals. Each month I will teach you a new mixed media application that captures the Wabi Sabi style to help you fill those blank pages of your journal. You will learn how to work with different materials, create textures, explore different techniques, and apply layout & design elements. We will also learn how to alter materials to make them look aged and weathered.

In addition, I will present quotes and lessons from Wabi Sabi: Japanese Wisdom for a Perfectly Imperfect Life by Beth Kempton. This will help to inspire your pages with the wabi sabi mindset and intention as well as learn lessons that can apply to your life.

Each class session will be recorded. If you miss any sessions, not a problem, you can always catch up through the recordings.

This class series is perfect for those who have already completed my Wabi Sabi Art Journal class and have created their own wabi sabi handmade journals. If you’re new to Wabi Sabi Art Journaling, you are welcome to jump right in and work in any art journal of your choice.
